16篇Nature发布大脑运动皮层细胞图谱的意义在哪？
Johan Winnubst：“工欲善其事必先利其器”——皮层神经元组成图谱建立的工具
大脑是由复杂的细胞网络所组成，这些具有不同特性的细胞之间互相连接，促进了大脑以及机体精密活动的完成。如何将特性相似的神经元进行分类以及神经元多样性的全景究竟是怎样的仍是目前神经生物学的重要课题。但是，想要解决这一问题并非易事。为此，科学家们组建了大脑神经元细胞普查网络联盟BICCN，并且建立了大脑皮层初级运动神经元图谱。该图谱中囊括了小鼠、非人灵长类动物以及人类大脑中神经元的分子、功能以及与其物理状态相关的数据（图1）。

大脑中细胞类型的高度多样性和复杂性给神经科学界带来了巨大的挑战。通过构建这样一个庞大的数据库图谱，BICCN联盟对于皮层神经元细胞类型的定义以及细胞如何建立在神经网络上的连接提供新的、更为全面的参考。之所以选择运动神经元皮层，原因有三：其一，该区域的神经元投射延伸到运动系统的许多其他的部分，但是该区域与其他区域之间是如何进行相互作用的还不得而知，是仍然大有可为的“黑匣子”领域；其二，运动皮层控制机体的运动，因此了解不同的神经元细胞类型与功能进行直接联系；其三，从进化的角度上来说，该区域的大小、细胞类型的多样性以及功能在不同物种之中存在较大的差异，因此可以对运动皮层的神经元多样性的进化过程进行探究。 由此，神经科学家将可以访问包含不同物种运动皮质中不同类型细胞的许多方面信息的数据库，其中包括细胞基因表达、表观遗传修饰、细胞形态以及电生理特征等。
