stop 普通用词，其使用范围广泛，可指停止任何行动、活动或状态。但需注意 stop
to do sth. 和 stop doing sth. 的区别。stop to do sth. 指停下来（为了）去做另
一件事，而stop doing sth. 指停止手中正在做的事。
1）He came to the new building and stoppedsuddenly.

halt=很突然地停止，是“终”止，譬如说急刹车
cease=慢慢停止（永久性停止），譬如说cease out，灭绝，绝迹
cease :v.终止，停止，主要指停止已存在的一种状态或行为，多用于书面语。如：
The animal has ceased to exist. 这种动物已经不复存在了。
halt :v.使终止，停止。如：
The soldiers halted for a short rest. 士兵停下休息一会儿。
stop: v阻止，使中断，主要用来指停止正在进行的动作或行为，要注意后跟不定式及动名词的不同【不定式表示还未做的事；动名词表示已经做的事】。如：
He stopped to talk with me .他停下来跟我说话。
He stopped talking.他停止说话。
